Cape Town - We’ve all seen the awesome workout videos and can attest that when it comes to her gym sessions, actress Connie Ferguson goes all out.
This makes it even more surprising that there is a certain exercise she has been reluctant to do.
The 49-year-old media mogul recently took to her Instagram account and shared a video herself at the gym preparing to do the dreaded "box jump".
A box jump is an exercise that involves jumping from the floor onto a box. Box jumps are a compound, multi-joint exercise and are not easy if you’re not an avid exerciser.
The video shows a reluctant Connie just as she is about to begin her first jump on the box.
"Jesus, the way you’re so relaxed if I fall," she says to her daughter Ali Ferguson in the video. Ali responds, "Mom stop saying if you fall cause that puts you in the wrong mindset".
After stalling, and practicing the jump on a shorter box, Connie eventually attempts the jump and nails it.
She captioned the video: "I’m a relatively strong and fit woman, but even I have certain fears that hold me back from my true potential! One of those fears is falling!"
"I’m sure you’ve noticed in my workout videos that I have never actually jumped onto the box, but rather stepped on and did a squat! Yesterday, for the first time, I decided to face this fear and see if I can actually jump onto the box!" she wrote.
"After a lot of back and forth and psyching myself up, I did it! Thank you @xolisani nomeva and my baby @ali.ferguson_ for having more faith in me than I did! You believed I could and damnit I did! It felt so good! Sometimes you just have to take that LEAP OF FAITH and do things that scare you! That’s the road to true success!" She concluded.
