Former Uzalo actress Nokuthula Mabika facing reckless driving charges after allegedly knocking teen

Former Uzalo actress Nokuthula Mabika is currently facing charges of reckless and negligent driving after allegedly knocking a teenager in August in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

It is alleged that while driving her blue BMW with her friend, actress Nelisa Mchunu in the passenger seat, she knocked a Grade 11 pupil.

The teenager sustained severe injuries and Nokuthula allegedly immediately drove him to the clinic for treatment.

Speaking to Sunday Sun, the pupil’s mother, Sibongile Maphalala said she wants Nokuthula, fondly known as Nocxy to face the full might of the law.

"I was next to his bed. He couldn't recognise me. It's so painful to see my son like this. I want Nokuthula to pay for what she did. I want the law to deal with her. Maybe I'll find peace,” she said.

SAPS provincial spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane confirmed to Move! that a case of reckless and negligent driving was opened at KwaMashu police station for investigation after the victim was allegedly knocked by a vehicle on 23 August 2019 at 18:00 along M5 highway.

“The docket was sent to the senior public prosecutor for decision,” he said.

Attempts to getting hold of the actress for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publishing.

In 2017, Nokuthula posted her new ride on Instagram.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams, anything is possible if you have faith #grateful,” she captioned the picture.
