Johannesburg - Speaking in the season premier clip of docu-series Black Love, Tina Lawson admits that her granddaughter Blue Ivy Carter might’ve had a role to play in her marriage to actor Richard Lawson.

We all know how outspoken children can be and it looks like little Blue has the ability to make her words come to life.

The six-year-old’s grandmother recalled during the interview how it was her granddaughter who initially sparked conversations of marriage.

“My daughter gave me, for my sixtieth birthday, this boat trip, and we went on that boat trip and all of the other people on the boat trip were married, except us,” said Tina.

“I think that kind of influenced us a little bit because it was great. We called it the love boat and we just kind of rekindled relationships. So we were in that romantic space.”

In the docu-series that features other celebrity couples, Tina also explained how she was on another boat trip this time with Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z, when then three-year-old Blue said to her and Richard one night, ‘Oh y’all look beautiful. When are y’all getting married?’

Tina admitted that even though they laughed about it, it was also something they started to think about,

“Not that, that made us do it but it kinda’ made us start laughing about it and talking about it. And then we just decided… I think on that trip right?” said Tina turning to her husband, Richard.

The couple got candid on camera with Richard revealing that he called Solange and Beyoncé asking for permission for their mother’s hand in marriage,

“I called her children and I asked for her hand in marriage from them. I thought that was important because I knew without that, based upon the fact that Tina lives for her children it didn’t stand a chance, unless they were on board. And I was fortunate enough that they were completely on board and they were just over the top excited about it,” said the 71-year-old actor.

The couple officially tied the knot in an intimate all-white themed ceremony, surrounded by close family and friends on a yacht at Newport Beach off the California coast.

Tina married actor Richard in 2015 following her divorce from Beyoncé’s former manager and father Mathew Knowles in 2009.

Black Love is set to premier on 2 October, on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
