American actress and model, Karrueche Tran is suing her ex-manager, Jacob York for $1.4 million (R20,8 million) for underpaying her.
According to court documents which were seen by The Blast, Karrueche who is Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend alleges that York and his management company had been cheating her out of her money and is suing the company for breach of contract, fraud, breach of private duty and punitive damages.
The publication further reports that Karrueche had allowed the company to handle her monies and to take their 20% stake before sending the money to her. The Claws actress says she relied on her manger to tell her the accurate amounts owed to her but that didn’t happen and instead the amounts were repeatedly misrepresented.
“Electric had only paid Tran $276,003.90 (+-R4,1 million) attributable to the Venture, thereby causing Tran to believe that the Venture had only generated approximately $345,004.87 in total revenues,” the documents read.
“Defendants encouraged this false belief by repeatedly misrepresenting to Tran that the Venture had not been particularly successful, and that her relatively low royalty payments were therefore to be expected.
“In truth, the Venture had been one of ColourPop’s most successful cosmetic lines to date.”
Karrueche rose to fame after dating singer Chris Brown but later broke up with him in 2015 following rumours he secretly fathered a child with another woman.
