Muvhango actress Moliehi Makobane was over the moon when she met her idol veteran actress Lilian Dube.

Speaking to Move! Moliehi explained that she was star struck but tried her best to act cool. She describes meeting her idol as ‘perfect’ because Lilian has heard and seen some of her work already.

The young actress said it’s all because of Lilian that she pursued an acting career and why she loves her SeSotho language and celebrates it through her acting craft.

“I first saw her playing the role of Baratang in Mopheme and I knew right there and then that when I grew up, I wanted to be just like her,” she revealed in a recent Instagram post.

Moliehi was only about five years old when she saw the veteran actress on screen.

“Meeting my role model and her telling me how much she loves me and is proud of gave me new peace and joy for what I do,” she added.

She tells Move! that even her love for acting has not been dented despite the working conditions making things hard.

“I am still enjoying it because I love it. but the conditions are making it hard but acting it’s my first love,” she explained.

Didie, as she’s affectionately known to her fans, says it’s thanks to her parents for encouraging her to do what she loves from a tender age. “My parents really allowed me to do the drama thing at an early age. They sent me to the National School of Arts (NSA) and then to Wits,” she told Move!.

The actress doesn’t downplay the pathway veteran actors such as Lilian have paved for her to enjoy the opportunities afforded to her today.

“I’m so blessed to be where I am today and it’s because of veterans like Mme Lilian Dube who serve as reminder that giving up isn’t an option! I love you mme oaka!” she concluded in her post.
