It has been an amazing year for actress and presenter Nomsa Buthelezi-Shezi. Apart from her success in the entertainment industry, she married to her long-time love, Zandile Shezi-Buthelezi.

It has been three months since they celebrated their traditional wedding in Alexandra, Gauteng, where Nomsa is popularly known as the “Gomorrah Diva”.

“It has been great,” Nomsa says. She admits, not much has changed between the pair and that is how they plan on keeping it. “What works for us is understanding friendship in our marriage is important,” she adds.

“The only thing that has changed is that we now use each other’s surnames and we wear wedding bands,” she tells Move!.

She is always so bubbly and loud. The Gomorrah Diva loves a good time and that has not stopped. “There’s this thing other couples do of going to romantic dinners, going out there to light candles. Well, with me and Zandile, I never liked candles. Imagine using ‘fork and knife’, no, that is not us,” she says.

Regardless of her celebrity status and fame, Nomsa enjoys the simplest things like gathering ekasi with friends, coolerboxes, good music and a good laugh. That is what their idea of fun is. “Why would we want to change? People must stop changing. I have heard people say, ‘I am someone’s wife, I don’t go to shisa nyama’, but you used to go with your then-girlfriend or then-boyfriend before getting married. I drink my Savanna, I love it. She [Zandile] drinks Heineken and we pack in a coolerbox, go chill with family and friends. That is us.”

Recently, Nomsa was nominated a favourite TV presenter award, alongside Jub Jub and Moshe Ndiki, for the 2020 DStv Viewers’ Choice Awards. “This nomination is a win already for me. I am so humbled. God keeps amazing me. What a way to end off this good year,” the Our Perfect Wedding Presenter says.

For now, she will be relaxing with family over the holidays in Durban. “I am exhausted. My mind is screaming holiday,” she adds. And she’s hitting the ground running in 2020: she will be back on OPW and Lockdown season 5. “I am looking forward to a new year.” She previously hinted in an interview that she’s also planning a white wedding.
