Prince Kaybee apologies to Msaki for not acknowledging her contribution after winning an award

Music producer Prince Kaybee’s song Fetch Your Life featuring musician Msaki won House record of the year at the Dance Music Awards South Africa (DMASA), but fans are livid at him.

Fans expressed their anger at Prince Kaybee and his manager for failing to acknowledge Msaki while accepting the gong.

Even though Prince Kaybee was not at the awards show, his manager accepted the award on his behalf, he recorded a clip that he shared on social media thanking his fans for the support and not making mention of Msaki.

This didn’t sit well with fans and they quickly pointed it out. Msaki told them that she’s not doing music for brownie points.

“Not everyone sees the need to acknowledge their collaborators,” she said, “But honestly if I did this for recognition or acknowledgement i’d be dead by now #reachesforguitar.”

After it trended on Twitter, Prince Kaybee quickly removed the clip and posted an apology.

“Hi guys I would like to apologize on behalf of my booking manager for not mentioning @Msaki_ZA yesterday at the awards when collecting the award on OUR behalf, I ddnt know what she was gnna say, I the posted that “WE”(Msaki and I) have won an award. We did not mean any harm [sic].”

Msaki responded to the apology.

“It’s all good Kabelo. I don’t mind that your booking manager didn’t mention me, that’s ok. You could’ve done that your post abt the award but it didn't seem like a http://priority.You suggest I locate my contribution in the “we”. Even now, you could do better. Understand?”
