Actress and businesswoman Mapaseka Koetle-Nyokong has taken to social media to ask South Africans to share their talents with her and stand a chance to win R10 000.

In an Instagram post, the Scandal! Actress, who plays Dintle asked fans to use the next few days to share their talents with her for a chance to win the prize money.

To enter, people must post videos of themselves showcasing whatever talent they have, except twerking.  These can be posted on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #ShowUsYourTalentWithPasi. She will contact those who are shortlisted by DM and the public will be later be asked to vote for the winner.  The winner walks away with a grand prize of R10 000, R5000 they can keep for themselves and the other must be donated to a charity of their choice.

Speaking to Move! Mapaseka explained the motivation behind her competition.

“I think because of the lockdown a lot of people are frustrated, people are anxious and depressed because we all don’t know what the future holds for us. No one knows how to deal with it because of what the world is going through.  I was chilling thinking about how much I miss acting and going to set, running my business, I miss a lot of things.  I miss the freedom of going to the shops,” she said.

“So I thought about people who ask me for electricity via DMs and I thought about what I could do that can also be fun.  I am a fun person and I always try to choose happiness regardless of what I am going through. I am doing this just to cheer people up because we are going through a lot right now,” she says.

Pasi [as she is affectionately known] said as much as this was for entertainment purposes, it could be an opportunity for someone because “you never know who is watching”.

“A lot of people look up to celebrities and it is so inspiring to see so many celebrities helping by assisting with groceries and that inspired me as well. You do not have to have a lot of money to help, whatever you can do can make a difference.”

Together with her team, Pasi is already watching the videos posted. The closing date is April 18 after which they will shortlist the entries.  The shortlisted entrants will perform live on Pasi’s YouTube channel and members of the public can vote for the winner.  There will also be prizes for the runner ups from the brands she works with like Johnson&Johnson and Huawei.

“I have also asked some of my celebrity friends to help me choose the shortlist,” she says.
