Cape Town - Award-winning actress Zethu Dlomo, recently tied the knot to her longtime sweetheart, actor and director Lebogang Mphahlele.

Speaking to Drum about her whirlwind romance Zethu said her now husband proposed to her on her birthday in 2015 while in Cape Town.

“I was shooting the TV series Black Sails and he took me out to dinner. I was not expecting to be proposed to but it was magical,” she said.

Zethu added that although planning a wedding is no child's play, the day turned out more magical than she had expected and she could not have asked for more.

“It was perfect! The sermon was incredible. Many of my guests were deeply moved by it, and what a wonderful spirit-filled message it was.”

“The food was delicious, people had fun and were honestly happy and that’s all I ever wanted,” she explained.

Zethu was shocked when her husband pulled some dance moves.

“That vosho was hilarious, I never espededit! (expected it)."

"I just saw Lebo unbutton his suit jacket and then boom, the vosho at the altar. I’m confident that Jesus and all the angels bebashaya ama-vluit! (were whistling), I loved it."

Killing two birds with one stone, the Mphahlele’s decided to have the white dress ceremony and uMembeso on the same day.

“Both were in Johannesburg, and we still need to do uMabo in Port Elizabeth where Lebo comes from.”

The former Isibaya actress also added that she was very happy about the support of her friends and family.

“I just loved how our families, friends, and neighbors came out in numbers from near and distant places to celebrate this occasion with us. It was truly special and what a celebration it was.”

She added that although she and Lebo are individuals, on their wedding day, they became a unit.

“We can now face life together,” Zethu said proudly.

“Being married means having someone who chooses you every single morning, willing to love you through the good and the bad. Someone who will support your dreams and protect you, pray for you and with you. It’s a blessed and holy institution. It’s a beautiful thing.”
