This is why Thandiswa postponed her Amandla Womxn Fest

Celebrated musician Thandiswa Mazwai has announced the postponement of her women-only festival, Amandla Womxn Fest.

The muso cites the recent incidents that have taken place in the country, such as xenophobia and femicide, as reasons for her heart still not being “healed”.

She says she can’t do the concert when her heart is not alright. “I for one have not healed my heart enough to be able to carry yours at this time.”

Thandiswa says it’s no time to hold a concert when the country is under a dark cloud.

“There has been so much pain& violence, ilifu elimnyama, and despite having a great lineup with sistas I love and admire, I am not able to give this festival the mental space it needs right now. I don’t think we need a concert, but perhaps we need to think about the idea of a great healing for South Africa and the rest of the mama land as all manner of violence persists [sic],” she said on Instagram.

But King Tha, as she refers to herself, did not say when the festival will be held. But promised concert-goers, who had already bought their tickets, a refund.
