It’s been a year since Idols judge, Unathi Nkayi embarked on her seven-date Brave, True and Strong Tour around the country for her last album. She performed a few songs from the first time she ever released a solo project, including songs from the last album - three of which she performed with the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls choir.
Taking to her Instagram page, Unathi shared a heart-warming throwback video of herself rehearsing and preparing for the tour with the girls’ choir.
The song they were singing in the video is “Hallo sana”, which Unathi explained, was not easy to record because it found her navigating single motherhood for the first time, and having to leave her children to be able to put food on the table, reports Zkhiphani.
“I have lived this and I have seen the joy on my children’s faces when I go back home,” she said.
In the video posted by the WeThembisile songstress, the choir is singing and dancing, clearly having fun with a very welcoming Unathi, who occasionally smiles at the girls while singing. The young ladies sound as angelic.

Her followers were so moved by the video, that one shared her own story of why she loves the song so much:
“This is my favourite song. This song came out just before I gave birth if I'm not mistaken. I gave birth in Jan 2018. This year i had to leave him for 4 months due to work stuff (military life) when I came I sang him this song he just lit up. I'm still wondering if he just enjoyed me singing to him or it triggered a memory of me singing to him as a new born. Oh, usana lwam lingencume. Love you sis Unathi.”
