Singer and television producer Tumi Masemola who is part of the team behind ground breaking Mzansi Magic series Lockdown chatted to DRUM briefly about the show, her new music and more.
Three words to describe Lockdown 2 for you?
Raw, engaging, quality.
Last time we spoke you said that there are actors who were calling on you to be part of the show, did you manage to get those actors into the show?
No, I did not. Unfortunately opportunity there was only room for one prisoner, and one warden.
It's only been one episode and people can't get over the show, what does that reaction mean to you?
It's validation that we on the right track and SA has got amazing, world class talent. We just need the time and budgets to make rembrandts.
You can't always believe what you hear, are you and Mandla broken up?
That is non of anyone's business.
Tell us about your new music and what inspired it?
My music is inspired by the talent God has given and the experiences she puts me through.
What's next for Tumi?
My single Deep End is out. Available for download on all reputable digital stores. I've partnered with pan-African record label Volcano Records. They have released me in SA, Nigeria and Ghana. Next is an African tour of my album release.
