Writer and activist Zoleka Mandela, who is the late veteran’s granddaughter, shared her fondest memories of her grandmother in a picture montage posted to Instagram.
Zoleka, daughter of Zindzi Mandela-Hlongwane, also posted a slideshow in which she recreates some of her grandmother’s most iconic photographs. Both posts were captioned “On the anniversary of your passing . . .”
The mother of the nation will forever be remembered for her courage and the fight she put up during the incarceration of her then-husband, the late Nelson Mandela.
South Africans have paid tribute to Mam’ Winnie by remembering what she has done for the country and by sending their love and strength to the Mandela family during this time.
Many South Africans are still inspired by Mam’ Winnie, she “didn’t die, she multiplied us”.
