These spicy meatballs are poached in a lentil sauce for a heart-warming meal.
Servings: SERVES 4-6
Cooking Time: COOKING: 25 MIN
  • 500g - beef mince
  • 45ml - plain yoghurt
  • 10ml - paprika
  • 5ml - ground cumin
  • 5ml - ground coriander
  • 5ml - ground cinnamon
  • - pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 5ml - cayenne pepper
  • - salt and freshly ground pepper
  • - handful of fresh coriander, roughly chopped
  • 1 - onion, grated
  • 30ml - butter
  • 80ml - lentils
  • 2,5ml - ground cumin
  • - pinch of ground ginger
  • 2 - pinches of cayenne pepper
  • - pinch of turmeric
  • 125ml - hot water
  • - salt and freshly ground pepper
  • - bread to serve


1.  Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Shape into golf-sized balls and put in the fridge until needed.


2. Put a pan over medium heat. Add the onion, butter, lentils, spices and hot water and cook for about 5 minutes to blend the flavours.

3 Gently add the meatballs to the sauce, cover and poach for 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Serve with the bread.
