He knows what it’s like to not be able to afford an education or put food on the table.

He also knows that with a little help, it’s possible to beat the odds and succeed. Born in QwaQwa, Free State, Teboho Twala (39) was an award-winning student in high school, but he was forced to leave due to financial difficulties.

He was raised by a single mother and he lived on the streets of Welkom before being adopted by another family who assisted him through the rest of high school and university.
