In the olden days, one had to see and touch a cow or a sheep before buying it for that special occasion.
But times have changed and the way people buy their groceries and clothes and accessories has changed, and this Polokwane woman believes this should apply to livestock and all agriculture related products.
This is why Ronica Malululeke-Ngasama (21) has developed an app from which people can buy livestock, meat and vegetables.
The Agriazo Poultry App is a game changer, she says.
“This app is an agricultural online shopping app which you can find on Google Play and Playstore which allows anybody to order from home. It provides any livestock, vegetables and all things agriculture. We do not only offer livestock, but meat and combos too.
“This is a way of trying to make people’s lives easier. When they have a function they no longer have to go to the villages, they can just order from the app in the comfort of their own homes. Especially now during Covid times, people do not want to leave the house and we are saying they do not have to,” she says.
It's designed so that even people who cannot read can use the app, she says.
“It has pictures, so that people can see what they are buying. After the payment has been done, we deliver. We deliver between 8am and 6pm but the app is operational 24 hours a day.”
She is currently based in Polokwane and has four staff members.
“When the business grows, we are hoping to increase the staff because we want to expand to other parts of the country, starting with Pretoria and Johannesburg."
“I grew up in a village called Gawula in Giyani and my grandparents were in farming. I knew from a young age that with land, water and sunlight, you can never go hungry. People think farming is boring but we want to get rid of that mindset. We cater to household needs, but we also cater for events such as weddings, funerals or lobola. Every event is not an event without meat and we want to provide you with that meat."
"It is a blessing to be involved in feeding the nation."
