The coronavirus outbreak has brought the world to a standstill. From businesses implementing a work-from-home procedure to annual events and even movie tours being postponed, many are taking the risk of the virus spreading very seriously – and for good reason.
The New York Times reports that an NBA basketball player tested positive for the virus. This led the NBA to suspend its season on Wednesday. This came shortly after a game between Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder was halted just before tip-off.
Tech, music and film festival South by Southwest (SXSW) was also cancelled just one week before it was scheduled to start as fear over the virus escalated. “This is the first time in 34 years that the March event will not take place,” organisers stated in a press release.
The New York Times also reports that daytime talk show The View is being recorded without a studio audience. Trevor Noah’s The Daily Show will also now be taped without a studio audience.
