Cape Town domestic worker dismissed without UIF.

She’s been looking forward to her retirement. Most of her life she’s been working in one way or another for various families and was looking forward to time with her own. 

But now Jabulile Makhasi (59) is in limbo. The Eastern Cape-born domestic worker has been working for the same family in Cape Town for 11 years.

She was abruptly fired on Monday 27 July after enquiring about her registration for UIF when the family she worked for cut her R3 500 salary by R1 000 due to Covid-19.
