Commuters stranded as taxi’s strike

Thousands of commuters have been left stranded as Johannesburg taxi operators protested on Monday morning, the SABC reported.

Affected areas included many Soweto suburbs, Vosloorus on the East Rand, and the Vaal triangle. Many commuters were unaware the protest was taking place, the broadcaster reported.

The taxi operators were protesting over a number of issues, including e-tolling and the rising petrol price. A march was planned for later on Monday.
