Protesters outside Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton were dispersed with teargas  by Police after Mondli Gungubele had tried to speak to them about their housing concerns. The protestors had burnt tyres and throw stones earlier, while holding placards saying, “We want land and stop selling our RPD Houses”. They had come to the stadium to hear Gungubele address their concerns about housing, which had started through protests earlier in the week.

The protestors had looted some foreign owned shops, burnt tyres and tried to occupy some land illegally in the area from Monday to Wednesday. Six of the looters were arrested. Ekurhuleni metro police spokesman Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said the police are doing their best to keep the situation under control.
