Health care in Gauteng is in demand, Premier Nomvula Mokonyane said on Wednesday.
"People from North West, Free State and Mpumalanga (provinces) come here in buses referred to Bara," she said during a visit to Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital, south of Johannesburg.
She said there was a need to expand the maternity unit at the hospital due to the high number of patients needing attention every day.
"We see more than 90 mothers-to-be every day... there is a need to expand."
Mokonyane was on a tour to assess health care delivery in the province.
She started her campaign at Eldorado Park where she visited the Kliptown Clinic, as well as TB patients at their different homes, encouraging them to complete their treatment.
