Hanging out in Pepsi’s cave

The top DJ and producer comes down the metal and glass staircase of his luxurious

Joburg house as bubbly as the cola he took his professional name from. “Hey my man, welcome to my cave – this is where I hide,” Nkululeko Mdlongwa, aka DJ Pepsi, says with a smile.

It’s been almost four years since he released an album and he’s in high spirits as he invites us in.

The 37-year-old Come Fetch Your Wife hit-maker is the younger brother of Oscar Mdlongwa, aka DJ Oskido, and also the brains behind award-winning artists such as Professor and Tamara Dey.

And his home is anything but a cave. The beautiful double-storey house in Weltevreden Park, west of Joburg, is roomy enough to accommodate an entire family but DJ Pepsi lives alone and admits that he sometimes feels lonely.
