After two years since releasing an album songbird Kelly Khumalo has a new album out. The album titled 'Back to My Roots' takes the singer back to the music genre that made her popular when she started. "I am in love with this album. I am back to the music I sang that I am known for, Afro pop.," she said during the listening session.
Produced by Sello Chicco Twala the album musical sound is that of Busi Mhlongo and Brenda Fassie. Kelly even does her own rendition of the popular Brenda Fassie song Nikubambe. The eight track offering is balanced in its song arrangement and sound. Some songs are better than others, for example Somizi, Asine and Nikubambe. While others are just average.
For an album we waited two years for, eight tracks doesn't seem enough. Will give it a 7/10.
