Limpopo rape accused stays in custody

The bail bid of a youth accused of the rape and robbery of three University of Limpopo students has been postponed to next week.

Police spokesman Constable Moses Molepo said the investigating officer was too ill to attend the bail hearing in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

The 19-year-old would be back in court on May 2 for his bail application. Investigations would continue in the meantime.

The youth allegedly broke into the rooms of three women off the campus and raped them between the evening and morning of February 22 and 23. Laptops and cellphones were also stolen. He was arrested following a tip-off.
