Phila Madlingozi responds to Idols SA speculations

Ever since the announcement of Idols SA's top 16, speculations by some viewers have been rife with accusations of one contestant's inclusion for the next round.

Phila Madlingozi, who is the son of famous singer Ringo, has been said to be picked as one of the final contestants because of ties to his father.

But speaking to Sowetan, the megastar does not believe stand by his critics opinion and instead, has applauded his son.

"I felt that it was just not right that people rubbish him like that," he told the daily.

"I could sense that some just hated him. But he took the criticism positively because he did not entertain them."

And speaking to The Juice, Phila said he could not wait to rub people's nose in his success, but in more gracious terms.

"People are interested and that's all that matters," Phila told the site.

"They want to know if I really have the talent or if I'm riding on my father's name, and that's an opportunity to prove them wrong."

We'll just have to wait and see how the rest of Phila's journey plays out. It should make for interesting TV.
