The intimidating chants from the fans of the Mena, as Niger’s national team is called, engulf the stadium as the South Africans seek an away goal to reduce the 2-0 deficit.

With less than 20 minutes left on the clock, a brawny little midfielder suddenly snags the ball and unleashes a thunderbolt that rattles the back of Niger’s net.

Suddenly a deathly hush comes over the stadium as the public address system bleats out Andile Jali’s name as the scorer.
