Sport Minister Fikile Mbalula has urged South Africans to get behind the country's Olympic team, with three weeks to go to the London Games.
"We have seen before how sport unites our country," Mbalula said on Friday.
"We need to unite once again to show our team that we are 100 percent behind them as they prepare to compete against the best in the world."
Mbalula was speaking at the launch of Team SA Friday -- an initiative of Lead SA, the SA Sport Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc), and the sport and recreation department.
As part of the initiative, which is becoming the norm ahead of major global sporting events, South Africans have been urged to wear national sport shirts on the last day of each working week in the build-up to the games.
The London Olympics -- the 30th edition of the quadrennial sporting showpiece -- starts with the opening ceremony in the English capital on July 27.
