A video of a helicopter crashing into the Manhattan River in New York, US, on Sunday night has emerged on Twitter.
Footage shows the helicopter crashing into the water with its blades still spinning before sinking a few seconds later.
A spokesperson for New York mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted, “NYPD and FDNY divers already on the scene and in the water.” But by the time divers got to the chopper it was already too late.
According to the BBC the chopper was carrying six people, five of whom died. While the pilot was able to free himself from the wreckage, two people died on impact and the other three later died in hospital.
The cause of the fatal crash is still unknown.
