She’s just completed week 2 of 4 and tells us all about it.
How different you feel compared to about a month ago, before you started Detox with DRUM?
Physically I feel very good. Since the first week of starting the programme I’ve felt lighter. I’ve honesty been sleeping better and I don’t really have any brain fog and, I can also concentrate for longer than before. This isn’t something I’ve noticed personally but while FaceTiming my friend have mentioned that I have a glowing complexion and asked what I am doing… I then told her I am cutting out some bad things from my diet in the hopes of having my skin and overall health improve.
What has been the most challenging aspect of this programme?
There is nothing that has been very challenging about this program. If you set yourself up with the pantry swop you won’t get tempted into falling back into bad routines because there’s no temptations around you. At the end of the day it comes down to the planning which really pays off and I won’t even consider that a challenge, neither would I consider it a challenge to cut out meats. This program is the perfect gateway to slowly wean yourself off meats gradually.
What are you enjoying the most?
Trying new things, the new flavours and combinations are really just expanding my views on healthy eating. It’s not unappetizing like you’d think a “diet” is, it’s exciting and I am learning a lot. Eating less meat is something I would say I’m enjoying too, I’m looking forward to reaching the point where it becomes my norm and I reap all the benefits physically.
Another thing I’m enjoying is the fact that my husband is enjoying it with me, at first he said he would make his something else on the nights that we don’t have meat but now his enjoying the meatless meals with me and even says he can have them again. Everything is filling to my surprise as I was afraid it wouldn’t be. The whole process of trying new things, finding new favourites actually quite fun.
There are no real challenges to this program, the recipes are very straightforward, even my husband could prepare these meals for us with no problem when I wasn’t able to. It takes minimal preparation time.
What substitutes have you made?
I’ve had to make substitutes for everything that I am allergic to so that would refer to avos which I’ve been substituting with corn. Fruits like bananas, oranges and peaches I’ve replaced with others like pears, apples and berries but also nuts and raw veggies like celery and carrots. I’ve been replacing any sugars with honey and chips with popcorn. I replace coffee with matcha tea for the energy but it wasn’t really needed because physically I’ve been having energy because of the detox.
