Gabrielle Union and her NBA player husband Wade welcomed their baby girl via surrogate earlier this month and now she is sharing their journey to having their first child together.
In a lengthy Instagram post, the actress let her fans into how their daughter Kaavia James Union Wade came into being.
“On this night we decided to embrace faith that our lil miracle @kaaviajames would make it into our arms. We held onto each other in joy and peace and allowed ourselves to look forward to her arrival.”
She also added how her husband of five years got a tattoo of their daughter’s name.
“@dwyanewade marked this moment with his 1st ever tattoo of her 1st name Kaavia James... Yes it took alot of whiskey and he and @ud40 & @3jmccollum smoked a few cigars with the @lining.official @wayofwade family and we celebrated.”
“For lots of people/families who have been on their own unique fertility/family creation journey, hope can feel like a cruel joke that plays on repeat. You stop letting yourself get excited and you dont dare utter any updates. You carry it all. It can feel isolating and depressing. You wonder if you are defective. You are not. You wonder if you are worthy. You are. You feel you feel you feeeeeel. You are not alone. You are loved and worthy and every feeling is real and understood. On this night, we allowed ourselves to stop holding our breath out of fear. We still had 4 months to go. We had never been this close.”
This is Gabrielle's first child while Dwyane has three other children from previous relationships: Zaire, Xavier and Zion.
Gabrielle has been open about her struggles to conceive in the past, even mentioning that she has had nine miscarriages.
Although she is a new mom, Gabrielle has immediately gotten back to work and recently share d a picture of her actress friend Jessica Alba holding her almost one-month old baby girl on the set of LA's Finest Thursday.
She shared video of herself doing a stunt on a motorcycle along with a caption that praised her job for supporting families and mothers.
'Cool Rider,' she wrote. I my job. I love that @kaaviajames is welcome & loved at #LAsFinest and I ? that we have a family friendly set and a production that embraces and supports mothers, pregnancy, breast feeding, maternity/paternity leave, actually having time to see your family, reasonable scheduling, and we manage to stay on budget and make our days and people actually like coming to work.
