It claimed the life of Jacob Zuma's son Nhlakanipho Vusi Zuma and celebrities such as Toni Braxton, Lady Gaga and Nick Cannon have been vocal about their struggles with the auto-immune disease. 

When Nhlakanipho died in 2018, the family disclosed he died of complications arising from lupus.  But what is the disease exactly? The name is nothing new but it’s often hard to pinpoint just what it is.
