The security of a monthly salary or weekly wage is increasingly becoming a "luxury" for those who have never been in the job market before.

Side hustles, the gig economy, freelancing, moonlighting and pivoting . . . These are all terms that have become part of our everyday vocab since the Covid-19 pandemic left many economies teetering on the brink of collapse.

Still, the hope of full-time employment is something many young graduates cling onto – even though companies are retrenching or shutting down rapidly. In these tough times, what becomes of those who have never even set foot in a university?
