Those poor matrics of 2020! A disrupted year of study, leaked exam papers, no celebration of their school-leaving rites of passage – and now they face the nail-biting wait for their results.

The government has said marking will be completed by 22 January and results will be released on 23 February, despite markers withdrawing due to Covid-19 cases and fears of infection. 

Let's hope it is right and the department of education is on track because waiting is a hard game to play, even in the best of times and if you've been born with the gift of patience.
