Unfortunately for our local celebs, their relationship woes are often public. As the lockdown continues, the list of celeb breakups continues to grow. Here are four local celeb couples whose relationships didn’t survive lockdown:

1.       Lerato Kganyago and Thami Ndlala

Award-winning TV presenter Lerato Kganyago trended when her marriage with businessman Thami Ndlala ended after just two months. Lerato first announced her marriage during her show on Metro FM and further confirmed it when she posted pictures of their traditional wedding. She was also the one to announce the end of their marriage when she released a statement on Instagram which has since been deleted.

2.       LootLove and Reason

At the beginning of May media personality Luthando “LootLove” Shosha and rapper Sizwe “Reason” Moeketsi announced they’d gone their separate ways. The former couple started dating in 2017 and have twin daughters together. LootLove announced their split on Instagram and stated that she was hesitant to announce the news.

"It's all fun and games until you're put into a position to share something you don't want to share. This happened with my pregnancy and it is happening now again. To be honest I would've preferred to not say anything... but here we are,” the media personality said. She also confirmed they’d continue to co-parent their children.

3.       Zodwa Wabantu and Vusi Bhuthelezi

Zodwa Wabantu isn’t new to public breakups as her engagement to Ntobeko Linda was called off last year. She recently announced the end of her relationship with Vusi Bhuthelezi in a very short and straightforward manner. The entertainer posted a picture, which has since been deleted, of her and Vusi captioned “It’s over”. In a recent interview with DRUM, Zodwa spoke about being in lockdown with her partner.

4.       Kay Sibiya and Judie Kama

Another couple to part ways are Kay Sibiya and Judie Kama. The actor took to Instagram to announce they’d parted ways, accompanied by a picture of the former couple. “After much thought and consideration Judie and I have decided to separate on amicable terms. I have much respect for her and I will always hold her in high esteem and regard,” he said.

With the lockdown continuing, it will be interesting to see how relationships move forward and the advice that is going to come from those that survived – and those that didn’t.
