Legendary actress Mary Twala passed away on 4 July 2020, aged 80-years-old.
The actress' son, Somizi Mhlongo broke the news on his Instagram page on Saturday afternoon, detailing the moments before she died.
"She left us peacefully around 11:00 at Parklane private hospital as I was on my way to drop off her gown and a few minutes earlier the doctor called to say come she's up and jolly now. I arrived a few minutes late," he wrote in the post's caption.
Since then, multiple tributes have poured in for her on social media. From President Cyril Ramaphosa to other local leaders and fellow actors -- her death sparked a deeply emotional response from all who knew and loved her.
