Johannesburg - DJ Fresh had fans playing guessing games when he recently revealed that he would be joining another station in August, following his termination from Metro FM’s Fresh Breakfast show – and now the DJ has finally made the big announcement.

Taking to his Twitter page on Monday morning to make the long-awaited announcement, the Big Dawg posted a 34-second video in which he can be heard calling into 94.7 and later teasing a ‘Fresh on 947’ slot that would be starting on 1 August 2019.

According to the 947 site, DJ Fresh together with Mantsoe Tsatsi will host a new drive time show which will air on weekdays from 3-7 PM.

In a previous video that the DJ posted on Friday, he revealed that his new show would have “a kick-ass team, a lot of entertainment and a lot of laughter.”

Fans were excited to learn that the DJ would be returning to the airwaves and the hashtag #Freshon947 quickly topped the trendslist on Twitter.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) announced that it terminated the contract of DJ Fresh, whose real name is Thato Sikwane earlier this month.

The DJ was unscheduled and later terminated from METRO FM after an "unfortunate choice of words" were said on air in June.

According to a statement released by the SABC spokesperson, Vuyo Mthembu, "The termination follows unsuccessful engagements between SABC Radio Management and DJ Fresh, after his usage of offensive language on-air."
