The Ticketpro Dome will close its doors after 20 years.

It's been one of the homes of South African concerts, events and expos for a long time. It's a place where almost everyone has memories linked to it.

They can remember watching and singing along to their favourite local and international stars. There's that day when they went to a wedding expo to get ideas for their big day.

The Ticketpro Dome is now closing it's doors permanently.

The indoor arena was run by RX Venue Management and they announced this week that the Dome has been sold to Sasol Pension Fund, “a third party which does not operate in the event space”.

In a statement, Carol Weaving, MD of RX Africa has described the closure as heartbreaking.

“This is extremely disappointing and heartbreaking for our industry. The Ticketpro Dome has been home to many international concerts and events in South Africa, and this will undoubtedly leave a huge void.

“The constant changes and severity of the Covid-19 restrictions have wreaked havoc amongst our stakeholders and across the supply chain. This has meant we were unable to change the outcome of Sasol Pension Fund decision to sell the venue due to a force majeure,” she says.

We look back some of the memorable concerts held at the Dome.

Hip hop star Lil Wayne did his thing in 2011, delivering hit after hit on stage.

Nicki Minaj wowed her fans with her performance in 2016.

Who could ever forget Cassper Nyovest's Fill Up concert in 2016?

Mega star Lauryn Hill performed there as part of her international 20th anniversary tour in 2019.

Toni Braxton, a living legend, was almost in tears as the crowd sang along to her songs when she performed at the dome in 2019.
