And sometimes those patches just aren't fixable.

1. Thishiwe Ziqubu and Mandisa Nduna

Thishiwe and Mandisa dated for almost four year, and made the announcement about their breakup on their respective social media pages at the beginning of October.

While the award-winning actress and director took to Twitter and said: “Beautiful people. Because you loved and supported us, we must let you know. Mandisa and I broke up a while back. It is a Love I will always treasure and honor, and all is good."

2. Khanyi Mabu and Tebogo Lerole

Media personality Khanyi Mbau and her long-time partner, Tebogo Lerole, broke up again in July.

Khanyi took to her Instagram page to announce their separation. She posted a picture of them together and wrote: “Guys we have been here before, certainly words I have uttered before.

“A decade of dating someone comes with great joy and immense difficulty, that fighting to stay together is sometimes not enough. Some paths are meant to cross and certain season to pass. Tebogo Edward billion has chosen to take a different path and have chosen to respect it and let him soar into greatness. And by this we are no longer an item,” Khanyi posted.

The mother of two who made the announcement about the split on Instagram, also sharing how she was hesitant about announcing the news.

"It's all fun and games until you're put into a position to share something you don't want to share. This happened with my pregnancy and it is happening now again,” said Lootlove.

"To be honest I would've preferred to not say anything... but here we are I got contacted by Sunday Sun and I thought it would be best for me to say something to avoid being misquoted or lied about. My team and I have responded to the journalist as well.”

She also confirmed that they will continue to co-parent their children.

4. Mona Monyane and Khulu Skenjana

Actress Mona Monyane and actor husband Khulu Skejana are another couple that went their separate ways. The pair were together for more than five years and share two kids.

Early this year, the actress broke the news on her Twitter.

5. Zodwa Wabantu and Vusi

Zodwa Wabantu is not new to public breakups. In May, the media personality and businesswoman announced the end of her relationship with Vusi Buthelezi in a very short and straightforward manner. She posted a picture, which was later deleted, of her and Vusi captioned “It’s over.”

Months after they broke up, Zodwa accused her former lover of being a fraudster and said he stole from her.

Speaking to Drum then, Zodwa said she was not bitter nor angry about the breakup, she just wanted Vusi to own up to what he did.

“It has been months since we broke up. If I was bitter, I would have talked about it then. Now I just want him to bring back what he stole. He is a fraudster,’’ Zodwa insists.

And when Drum contacted Vusi for comment, he referred us to his lawyer, Howard Felix.

According to Felix Zodwa’s claims of an open fraud case against Vusi are untrue.

"The fact that the claimant states that she got a letter of demand to charge our client with fraud makes no sense, because letter of demand denotes a civil claim. We have been unable verify the allegations of criminal charges of fraud against our client," he wrote in an email.
