Even when the group seemed to have disbanded as they each pursued solo careers, it was Speedy who reached out to all of them.
This is according to Bongo Maffin's Jah Seed who tells Drum, "Speedy has been active a lot with his current album, The Gift. I guess it came naturally to him to always want to work."
This year marks the 26th year since Thandiswa Mazwai, Harold 'Speedy' Matlhaku, Anesu 'Jah Seed' Mupemi and Serai 'Stoan' Seate first made their mark on the industry as Bongo Maffin, a hit-making reggae, kwaito, pop, hip-hop, jazz, and R&B group whose impact on popular culture would also be felt for a long time to come.
