After six years of marriage and eight years together, Kim Kardashian-West and Kanye West are allegedly heading for a divorce.
According to sources quoted by American tabloid site Page Six, their divorce is imminent and Kim is working with a top lawyer.
“They are keeping it low-key but they are done. Kim has hired Laura Wasser and they are in settlement talks,” the source said.
Wasser is the same lawyer that Kim enlisted for her last divorce from Kris Humphries.
Page Six further alleges that Kim hasn’t been seen wearing her wedding ring, and Kanye remained at his $14 million (R210 million) Wyoming ranch over the holidays instead of spending it with the rest of the Kardashian family.
The couple tied the knot in 2014 and have four children together: North (7), Saint (5), Chicago (2), and Psalm (19 months).
People, in what is an 'exclusive scope' wrote that the couple is currently in counselling and doing everything they can to save their marriage.
"Kim and Kanye are in counseling and exploring their options. They have been working on their marriage for a long time, but no decision has been made," said the source.
Another added that the star's mom and her sisters have been very supportive of her during this time.
Towards the end of last year, People alleged that the stars were living 'very separate lives'.
The Hollywood power couple is no stranger to topping the Twitter trends list or tabloid front pages.
From earlier rumours of a divorce, changing the way she dresses to 'honour' him, Kanye's failed run for presidency and his public outbursts – what was the straw that broke the camel’s back?
Here's a look at some of the incidents that occurred in 2020 that could have led to their divorce:
Kanye's unsuccessful bid for presidency
After the announcement of Joe Biden's win, Kim took to social media to celebrate with fellow Americans. This left many questioning her loyalty to Kanye and whether she had voted for him.
This was Kanye’s first presidential attempt.
His independent political party called the Birthday Party received 60 000 votes out of an estimated total of 160 million votes counted.
This loss led to another Twitter rant where Kanye took aim at Joe Biden in now-deleted tweets.
Kanye's Twitter rants and public outbursts
Although the rapper is now infamously known for his very public outbursts and Twitter rants which date back to 2016, last year, Kanye took shared 'private' matters regarding Kim and Kris Jenner.
During his South Carolina campaign rally, Kanye claimed he and Kim considered aborting their first child, North.
"I called my wife and she said, 'We’re gonna have this baby,' and I said 'We’re gonna have this child. I almost killed my daughter! I almost killed my daughter! I love my daughter!"
Days later, Kanye shared that he had been trying to divorce Kim and also took shots his mother-in-law, Kris Jenner calling her 'Kim-Jon-Ung'.
Kanye also claimed that Kim was trying involuntarily commit him to a mental health facility.
Kim responded to Kanye's recent behaviour in a lengthy statement shared on her Instagram stories after the rant asking for people to have compassion and empathy towards Kanye as he is battling mental health issues.
Kanye later sent out an apology on his Twitter asking for Kim's forgiveness.

Kanye's absence at Kim's 40th birthday
According to Complex, Kim's 40th birthday in October was also reportedly wearisome for the couple.
"He showed up late and left early, he wouldn't appear in any of their Instagram shots. All he did was bring over the hologram of her father Robert Kardashian, then got out of there as fast as he could," a source told Page Six.
Kanye also did not feature in any of the pictures the star posted on her birthday and this had left many fans questions whether all was well between the couple at the time.
The Mirror UK wrote that a separate source shared with Page Six that Kanye has become increasingly irritated by the Kardashian family's lifestyle and uncomfortable with where it was all heading.
According to the source he has also reportedly labelled Keeping Up With The Kardashians as "unbearable" and is looking to distance himself from them.
While Kim is said to still be 'waffling' about the decision to file, a source quoted by E! News shared that she's holding out for the sake of their children.
"It's not about the marriage anymore, she'll always care for Kanye but it's over between them," the source told E! News.
"Kim is only focused on what's best for the kids. It's a tough decision for her and she's figuring it out."
