His star keeps rising, one international award at a time. 

Jerusalema hitmaker Master KG has done it again. He's won the International Song of the Year award at the NRJ awards, which are presented by a French radio station.

The awards honour the best musicians in France and the world. 

Master KG is the first African artist to win this award in it's 20-year existence.

The remix of the smash hit Jerusalema, featuring Nomcebo and Burna Boy was named the International Song of the Year beating American rapper Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd and Dua Lipa.

He was also nominated for International Breakthrough of the Year but lost out to 'Say So' hitmaker, Doja Cat.  

The star took to his social media to share the exciting news and thank his fans for their support.

“We won!!!,” he excitingly wrote. "Best International Song At @nrjhitmusiconly @nrjmusicawards.tf1 in France Merci a Tous Mes Fans [thanks to all my fans]."

"We won a big one in France last night. Best international song of the year!! @NRJhitmusiconly I keep watching this nominees again n again because I can't believe it. Big Thanks to everyone for making this win possible," he wrote on Twitter. 

Speaking to the Sowetan, Master KG shared his gratitude and disbelief after receiving the international nod.

"It's overwhelming to be blessed and I'm very thankful to be [the]  chosen one by God as the first African artist to scoop the NRJ award for International Song of the Year. 

"I'm over the moon, for a young man from Limpopo to beat such big artists who have been around since I was still an upcoming artist fighting for  a breakthrough." 

In an interview with Daily Sun, the star revealed that he is working on the re-release of his 2019 album, Jerusalema. 

"I'm actually dropping the Jerusalema deluxe album, which is packed with good music and exciting collaborations". 

"The project is like a gift from me to the world for the love and support I've been getting," he said.

Master KG and Nomcebo were also recently honoured by the South African Traditional Awards (SATMA) for putting the country on the map for their infectious hit, Jerusalema.

To top off a great year, he also recently received a nod from Jay Z, with the addition of Jerusalema to his end of year playlist. He also released a new song titled ‘Ng’zolova’ featuring DJ Tira and Nokwazi which has been certified a December banger.
