It's been two years of virtual events and that's all over now. And one of the first events to kick off after SA ditched most of its Covid-19 regulations was the DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards, which returned after a two-year hiatus.

Hosted by the multi-talented Lawrence Maleka at the Sun Arena in Tshwane, the live broadcast saw stars put on their glad rags for the blue carpet.

Honoured for his immeasurable contribution to the film and theatre industry, South African iconic storyteller, veteran actor, playwright, director and author Dr. John Kani received the Legend Award and raised the audience on their feet as he gave a rousing and inspiring acceptance speech.
