It’s only been on our television screens since 2018, but Moja Love has a strong viewership base. Now the channel has more shows on the top 30 list of DStv’s most-watched shows than Mzansi Magic. Moja Love has 11 shows on the chart, Mzansi Magic has 10.

One of Moja Love’s most controversial shows, Uyajola 9/9, has also managed to change the ratings list. Uyajola 9/9 is the most-watched show on DStv for the month of June, with 2,8 million viewers. In second place is another Moja Love show, Umndeni, with 1,4 million viewers.

The shows have dethroned The Queen and pushed Gomora to fourth place. The Queen now comes in third with 1,3 million viewers and Gomora had 1,2 million viewers for the month of June.

Although the channel has been criticised for its stereotypical shows, it has managed to keep viewers entertained and tuned in. It is a difficult time for the country and the entertainment industry has shown resilience, although they’ve been struggling.

Several shows have had to halt production due to possible Covid-19 cases on set. This means less shows will be aired, affecting the industry once again.
