His faith has been tested. But he's determined to keep strong and find little pockets of happiness in this New Year after suffering a devastating blow at the end of 2020.
His story is one that's been echoing in many families in South Africa during the pandemic. Afro-pop singer Nathi Mankayi (38) started off the year 2021 filled with grief from losing both his parents; mom Nothembile Gladys Mankayi (73) and dad John Daniel Mankayi (80) just days apart.
“I have been through many challenging situations; this has been one of those that made me question God’s plans,” he tells Drum.
