Fans are so used to fights, sparks flying and fierce competition between the Real Housewives of Durban.

So when the reunion episode was aired recently, they were expecting much of the same. And most were disappointed, and took that disappointment to social media.

Fans were upset about Kgomotso Ndungane's absence at the Real Housewives of Durban Reunion part 1. They said it was boring without her there to “stir” up the drama.

The show started in January and the six women took fans into their homes and showed off their often lavish lifestyles.

There were some viewers who were not convinced about Kgomotso's reason for not attending the reunion. Host Phat Joe said it was because she had recently lost loved ones and needed time to herself.

Besides Kgomotso absence, viewers expressed disappointment with the reunion. Because of the drama that played out in previous episodes, fans expected the reunion to be explosive and some found it to be anticlimactic.

Showmax says the show was a success.

“The Real Housewives of Durban set the record for the most-watched first-day views on Showmax, so has been a hit from day 1. Three months after we launched, it’s still the most watched show on Showmax and it’s been trending on Twitter since the early hours of Friday morning, as usual. So we’re delighted that South Africa is still talking about the show and thank everyone involved in the reunion for this last taste of Durban spice,” says Candice Fangueiro, head of content at Showmax.
