It's the dress that always has South Africans talking.
Every year the country waits for the national costume that will be worn at Miss Universe to be revealed.
Will the dress have feathers, prints, slits or be plain?
This year's dress has been revealed and it didn't disappoint. The dress will be worn by Miss Universe South Africa 2020 Natasha Jourbet when she represents the country at the pageant.
Miss Universe holds a national costume show that is a separate part of the pageant and does not count towards the contestants overall scores, according to INSIDER.
The national costume show is a chance for the participants to honour and celebrate their countries.
The Miss Universe title is currently held by South Africa's Zozibini Tunzi, who will be handing it over in May.
Joubert’s national costume – which she showed off at her Miss Universe farewell as part of her #DestinyDesigned virtual fashion show – was designed by Gert-Johan Coetzee.
Joubert will be carrying the children of South Africa with her when she walks onto the international stage in her national costume, as the wings of her gown have been printed with drawings made by young children from Diepsloot and Randburg.
The artwork tells the story of pre-school children’s very personal experiences of lockdown and how the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted their young lives.
Here are some of the other national costumes over the years.
2019 – Zozibini Tunzi
Called the Wave of Love, Zozi's national costume contained a powerful message about violence against women in South Africa.
2018 – Tamaryn Green
The blue crane inspired costume featured over 1000 feathers.
2017 – Demi Leigh Tebow
Demi Leight's dress showcased the country's national flower from the colours to the petals - The Protea.
2016 – Ntandoyenkosi Kunene
The Miss Universe South Africa 2016 wore a dress that payed homage to South Africa's diversity and her Swaziland roots.
