They have been the number one duo from day one. Zolani and Lindiwe have entertained fans of The River from season 1 and it's hard to imagine one without the other. 

Viewers love to hate them, but the recent storyline of Zolani, played by Lawrence Maleka, going to prison for killing the man who raped his wife has fans in their feels.

Some feel like it is unfair for Zolani to be punished for killing a man who has traumatized his wife and others are speculating on whether or not Lawrence is leaving the show.

His wife Emma (Lunathi Mampofu) was raped and as soon as he learnt the truth, Zolani beat the culprit to death. Fans have been on an emotional rollercoaster ride with him.

The creators of the show are mum about the details, but they are promise more fireworks, drama and tears.

Tshedza Pictures series producer Percy Vilakazi says things are about to intensify even more.

“What I can confirm is that because we're nearing the end of the season, there will be a lot of intensified pressure, and we'll be playing off a lot of storylines that were set up at the beginning of the season. Lawrence Maleka's character (Zolani) is definitely in jail for now,” he says.

Viewers want answers, they want to know what the future holds for their fave.

From the first season, Zolani has been the right-hand man to Lindiwe, played by Sindi Dlathu. They've been tied together through highs and lows, both in business and their criminal activities. From the Dikana mansion to being homeless, they have proven to have an unbreakable bond. 

From Zolani’s tsotsi taal prayers, to him helping her get rid of bodies, he has always been a fan favourite.

Season 5 of The River will be starting early next year.
