He wasn't there to play. He's known for setting the stage on fire with his performances and his edgy music and his performance at the awards was no different.

But what set the night apart was when he walked away with 10 trophies at the Billboard Music Awards, making him the most awarded artist for the night.

Canadian born musician The Weeknd also scooped the most sought after award, the Top Artist Award. His big win brings his career total to 19 awards. He won for Top Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Hot 100 Song Presented by Rockstar: Top Male Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Male Artist, Top R&B Album, Top Radio Song and Top R&B Song.

The star boy hitmaker gave a performance like no other which was pre-recorded. He performed his song “Save Your Tears”.

Another artist who was a runner up to The Weeknd when it comes to the most wins Sunday night is the late Pop Smoke, who received five awards. Pop Smoke was shot and killed in a home invasion robbery last year and his murder is still under investigation.

Drake was also in attendance and he received the Artist of the Decade award and gave a touching speech while surrounded by his friends and family as well as his son, Adonis.
