Another celebrity wedding is on the horizon.

Actress Letoya Makhene is getting married after her bae, Lebohang Keswa proposed.

In a romantic outdoors proposal, Lebo got down on one knee while Letoya looked on to a blue banner with the big question “Latoya will you marry me?” Lebo posted the cute proposal video on social media.

The loved-up couple has been together since the beginning of this year.

“I was with my dad for the weekend and when we are together, he drags me along to everything.”

Getting together

Meeting someone special was the last thing on Letoya Makhene’s mind – so she was just as surprised as the rest of Mzansi when she did just that at a birthday party she attended with her father.

“I truly never saw this coming,” she told DRUM in an interview earlier this year.

Her love life has been the talk of the town since she confirmed on social media that she’s found love again in the arms a woman.

She refuses to miss out on love because of people’s prejudices. “I am a child of the spirit, which means I do what makes me happy,” she tells us.

“I have mastered shutting out the world. As long as I am centred with God, nothing else matters. I feel sorry for judgemental people who throw Bible verses my way.”

Having grown up in the public eye, she’s had to develop a thick skin. Even so, coming out wasn’t easy.

“I thought about whether it would damage my reputation. But I was a sangoma and went to initiation school at the age of 18, before it became popular among celebrities.

“I went through that path alone, and I’m still standing. If that couldn’t damage my reputation, nothing will,” she says.

“My happiness comes first. I don’t hide my beads or my cloth. I don’t need to hide my sexuality. In Lebo, I found someone I connect with on every level and feel I can spend the rest of my life with – and I don’t need to explain myself to anyone.”

The day they met, they spoke for hours at the party but Latoya was not interested in Lebo romantically, even though she thought she was “amazing”.

“But we found ourselves talking every day. We really connected. We spoke about everything – our previous relationships, careers, our kids,” she told Drum.

Now wedding bells are ringing for the couple.

South Africans have congratulated the happy couple and businesses have already offered their services such as the cake for the wedding.
