Renowned actress Tsholofelo Matshaba recently reflected on her character in 1Magic drama series The River, Rakgadi Kedibone, losing her lover.
The actress received praise this week when a recent heart-wrenching storyline involving her and Meshack Mavuso’s character, Ntsizwa, resonated with viewers.
In an Instagram post, Tsholofelo shared that the storyline in which her character is left heartbroken after the death of her lover reminded the actress of her husband Chris Matshaba's death.
The former Motsweding FM presenter lost a lengthy cancer battle in 2018.
The actress reflected on the pain of that loss and paid tribute to Meshack’s time on the show.
She said the story was close to her heart and was grateful the producers had chosen her and Meshack to “carry the happiness of finding the soulmate and carrying the hurt and pain of losing that soul”.
"This storyline was bitter-sweet for me. I couldn't have asked for a better Thespian than you, to relive the love I found and still have for my departed husband, Chris Matshaba,” she wrote. “It was an honour that I will cherish forever.”
Her comments come just a few days after Meshack shared his own moving tribute to Ntsizwa and his time on the show.
“To all the Abuti Ntsizwa's and their families out there, stay strong and learn from Kedibone, never give up the fight for health care justice [sic],” he wrote.
